01 · What Kids Need Firm · Clean · Easy care

What to look for in a kids mattress.

Children sleep longer and grow faster than adults, and a mattress that suits a toddler will not suit a ten-year-old. These are the four things the Mattress Lux team looks at with parents.

01 · Firmness

Firm support for little ones

Babies and toddlers need a firm, flat surface. CPSC and pediatrician recommendations call for firm support and a snug fit in the crib, which is why crib mattresses are built firmer than adult beds.

02 · Stages

Built to change as they grow

Some kids mattresses flip as your child grows. Two-stage crib mattresses have a firmer infant side and a toddler side, and the Helix Kids has a firmer side for ages 2 to 7 and a softer side for ages 8 and up.

03 · Materials

Materials you can name

Look for certifications you can check, like GOTS organic cotton, GOLS organic latex, or CertiPUR-US foams. Several of the mattresses below use no polyurethane foam, no flame retardants, and no fiberglass.

04 · Easy care

Made for spills

Waterproof surfaces and washable covers make accidents easier to handle. The Naturepedic crib mattresses have waterproof surfaces, and the Helix Kids cover has a water-repellent finish.

Mattress Lux is a mattress showroom, not a medical provider. For safe sleep guidance for your baby, follow your pediatrician’s advice.
